After running a Sports Education and Training Program for 4 years since 2012, ADISA took a monumental leap into Sports and Research in 2017. The goal was to complement the efforts of the Sports and Health program ran through annual Medical Workshops initiated in 2016, in a bid to prepare a path for ADISA to eventually develop a Sports Medicine program in the years ahead. The sports and research program team is made up of professionals in the fields of Sports and Physical Education, Medicine, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Computer Science, Sociology, and headed by an Epidemiologist.
The purpose of our first study is to investigate the effect of physical activity on athlete development of children. The efforts of this work were hampered by the growing Anglophone crisis in the south west and North west regions in 2017 to 2019. Just when we hope to resume field work, the COVID-19 pandemic hit globe in 2020. However, the team is currently being reconstituted and will resume to complete the project this 2022.
